Hitachi 18v Power Tools – Which Are the Best to Buy

Posted by Toolstop Colin on 24th Jul 2018

In this guide, we’ll look at three of the best 18v cordless power tools from Hitachi to add to your kit. Each is powered by Hitachi’s 18v battery platform, some are body-only, meaning you’ll be able to use any battery packs that you already own, and you’ll save a bit of cash with the purchase.

What’s the Best 18v Hitachi Combi-Drill to Buy?

With a powerful brushless motor, housed in aluminium, spinning the Röhm chuck at up to 2100rpmin gear 2, the DV18DBXL is a true powerhouse of a combi-drill. Brushless means longer service life and longer runtimes from the supplied 6Ah batteries.

The two packs in the kit will charge in just 38 minutes, and as you get two of them you can slot the spare into any other 18v Hitachi cordless tool (see the two options below).

The drill features Hitachi’s RFC which prevents kickback when drilling into masonry, and the 31,500 blows per minute are more than enough for drilling fixings into brick or concrete. The body is just 204mm long, but despite the compact form, the DV18DBXL has 22 torque settings for full control over screw driving applications, giving you a maximum torque of 136Nm.

What’s the Best Hitachi 18v Nailer to Buy?

With a brushless motor and unique air spring drive system, which helps keep recoil to a minimum, the NT1865DBSL/JX is a fantastic choice of cordless finishing nailer. Hitachi says it gives you better flush driving even at an angle and as it has fewer parts than a gas nailer, maintenance is kept to a minimum.

It’s bundled with two 3Ah 18v batteries, each giving you enough juice to punch around 1500 nails. It holds up to 100 16 gauge nails at a time (2 strips of 50), and has all the tool-free adjustments you’d expect: depth and jam clearance.

What’s the Best Hitachi 18v Grinder to Buy?

Rounding off our selection is the G18DSL/W4. It’s a no-nonsense tool that’s available body-only, which saves you some cash as you don’t get batteries or a charge, simply use any 18v Hitachi battery.

It runs 115mm discs and features a very slim-line grip for excellent ergonomics plus the gearbox has a low profile which makes it ideal for grinding in narrow spaces. The motor will spin the disc at 9100rpm and it packs plenty of torque for cutting and grinding.

In the box with the G18DSL/W4 you’ll find a side handle, guard and an abrasive wheel.
