As always, the anticipation and excitement were like electricty in the air as we all gathered together for the moment where the opening of the gold envelope would reveal the winner of the coveted Toolstop Oscar.
In attendance were Bosch, Makita, DeWALT, Hitachi and Metabo.
Each power tool company nominated in our annual Power Tool of the Year award takes the result seriously, knowing as they do that the winner – and runner-up – are chosen by you guys, the people who buy and use their products each day at work.
HOW DID YOU VOTE FOR YOUR POWER TOOL OF THE YEAR 2016?
As normal, loads of you placed votes on which power tool and manufacturer was your favourite throughout the year, and as is becoming the norm, one brand in particular ran away with the popular vote!
Which means, we have a clear winner.

Makita picked up the runner up award for the POTY 2016 for their CXT 10.8v combi-drill. However, this means that – once again – Makita missed out on the top prize…maybe next year?
