What’s the Best 18v Hitachi Combi-Drill to Buy?

hitachi DV18DBXL combi drill review

With a powerful brushless motor, housed in aluminium, spinning the Röhm chuck at up to 2100rpm in gear 2, the DV18DBXL is a true powerhouse of a combi-drill. Brushless means longer service life and longer runtimes from the supplied 6Ah batteries. The two packs in the kit will charge in just 38 minutes, and as you get two of them you can slot the spare into any other 18v Hitachi cordless tool (see the two options below).

The drill features Hitachi’s RFC which prevents kickback when drilling into masonry, and the 31,500 blows per minute are more than enough for drilling fixings into brick or concrete.

The body is just 204mm long, but despite the compact form, the DV18DBXL has 22 torque settings for full control over screw driving applications, giving you a maximum torque of 136Nm.

What’s the Best Hitachi 18v Nailer to Buy?

HITACHI NT1850CBSLJ4 BRAD NAILER reviewWhen we saw the NT1850CBSL/J4 in action, we were blown away by how effortlessly is punched 18 gauge straight brad nails into a huge hunk of wood (see the demo below). The machine is easily switched from sequential to bump fire, and we didn’t witness any stalls or jams.

The brushless motor helps to keep the weight down, which aids the overall fantastic ergonomics while making sure you can fire up to 1650 nails per charged battery. It comes body-only, so you’ll need to use your own Hitachi 18v battery, but this keeps the cost of upgrading to a minimum.

What’s the Best Hitachi 18v Grinder to Buy?

HITACHI G18DBAL ANGLE GRINDER reviewRounding off our selection is the G18DBAL. Again, this features a brushless motor, which in the case of a grinder ensures a long service life, considerably longer run times (up to 50% longer), and better durability. Everything on the G18DBAL is geared for maximum performance once you slot in a 18v battery. Hitachi promises it’s the lightest 18v angle grinder in its class with the smallest grip circumference while getting 60% more torque from the motor.

Whether cutting or grinding, the motor will spin the blade or disc at up to 9000rpm, and switching between cutting and grinding is kept safe thanks to the quick release guard. Safety-wise, a paddle switch with safety lock kicks the machine into action, it has kickback protection and an “auto” mode with reduces noise and vibration, plus the expected soft-start and anti-restart.

Durability on any angle grinder is key, and the G18DBAL is housed in such a way as to protect against water and dust.
