Fitting kitchens is a massive part of the economy, with the “improve, don’t move” mindset firmly in place in the UK and Europe. As a result, it’s important to make sure your kit has the tools you need to fit kitchens on prices, on time, again and again.
In this Toolstop Guide, we’ll share 4 Dewalt Power Tools that anyone fitting a kitchen should consider having in their arsenal. If you’d like to see our list of mixed brands, then see our Kitchen Fitter Tool Guide here.

Forgetting opting for a drill driver, fitting kitchens will almost always require you do trill fixing holes into masonry. So grab a combi-drill and you’ll be covering all the bases.
We’ve opted for Dewalt’s powerful and rugged DCD796, which you can see in our video demo on Toolstop TV.

Its 15 torque settings and two-speed gearbox make it ideal for driving screws, while the brushless motor gives you up to 2000rpm for drilling, and the hammer mode offers up to 34,000bpm allowing you to drill 13mm holes into metal and masonry.
Power Tools for Fitting Kitchens – Dewalt DCP580N Planer Cordless Brushless 18V li-ion (Body Only) – Learn more
This is another power tool that’s always going to find a use in the kit of a kitchen fitter, whether it’s trimming the bottom of a door, taking the edge off a worktop etc.
We’ve opted for a cordless version; the flexibility to work anywhere. We’re also going for a body-only (or naked) cordless planer. These tools cost a bit less and you just use one of the batteries in your existing kit. Learn more about body-only power tools here.
The Dewalt DCP580N is a brushless, cordless planer. It runs off the same XR 18v batteries supplied in Dewalt’s twin pack, so just slot one in when you need to use it, and because it’s brushless, it won’t being a heavy draw on the charge in the battery.

Power Tools for Fitting Kitchens – Dewalt DCS520T2 54V XR FLEXVOLT Plunge Saw – Learn more
For some reason plunge saws don’t appear to be as popular as they should be for kitchen fitting, however that trend needs to change! A plunge saw will easily replace bulkier table saws and once you know how to use them efficiently, will handle loads of jobs that you’d normally rely on a plunge saw for.
Marry a plunge saw up with a guide rail and you’ll be making 100% accurate cuts on long pieces of material over and over again. It can also quickly make bevel and mitre cuts on a small piece of material.
And when you’re cutting laminates, a plunge saw is the sure-fire way to guarantee not only an accurate cut but a clean cut, even when cutting into the glossy side of the worktop, for example.
We’re opting for the DCS520, which runs on the 54v XR FlexVolt platform, Dewalt promises this combination of high-draw battery and a brushless motor will give you the power of a corded plunge saw, but without the power cord. It comes with two 54v batteries which will also power any 18v XR tool, and a fast charger.
The depth of cut at 90º is an impressive 59mm (without rails) and 44mm at 45º (without rails). The performances of the DCS520 needs to be seen to be believed, so check out our demo on Toolstop TV.
